Bird Uganda Safaris is a group of tour professionals, conservationists, researchers, and nature photographers drawn together by a common passion for sharing, protecting, and promoting Uganda's remarkable bird and wildlife diversity.
Our company is led by founder Herbert Byaruhanga, a warm, enthusiastic Ugandan who rates among the top Bird Guides in East Africa. Herbert holds a degree in Tourism Management from Makerere University in Kampala and is also a select African guide for the world's largest birding tour company, VENT Nature Tours.
Herbert believes in much more than doing good business. He believes in avian conservation, youth education, and building sustainable communities through responsible tourism. Herbert is a leading force behind several programs in Uganda and East African as a whole, such as the Young Birders of Uganda, Rwanda Bird Guides Training Programme, Advanced techniques of Wildlife interpretation and Guiding, Cultural Guides Training, Ethiopian Bird Guides Training, and Uganda Bird Guide Training programs. Herbert selected and personally trained his professional bird guides, which are among the top field ornithologists in East Africa and members of the Uganda Safari Guides Association and Uganda Bird Guides Club. They are knowledgeable at finding and identifying birds and their microhabitats, and are dedicated to making sure that every participant sees them.
Our guides are also affectionate, fun loving people who genuinely enjoy making the tour a pleasant experience for each tour participant.
